Seeing Scar Symmetry perform live was quite the experience.
Me and a few of my high school buddies went to a show in 2009 at the Graspop Metal Festival in Dessel, Belgium. For a three day pass it was around 150 Euro, which wasn't bad at all given the insane amount of metal bands we were allowed to see in that time period.
Scar Symmetry was a band we wanted to see, but wasn't the only reason we were there. I honestly didn't expect too much from them, just a good show, but they blew my mind out of the water.
The instant they come out on stage, I could tell that their performance would be high energy by the shift in the crowds reaction.
Everyone was screaming loudly and jumping up and down. There were at least 1,000 people in the audience, perhaps more. The drummer, Henrik Ohlsson, came out thumping the drums and immediately I felt a huge wave of bliss as the droning commenced.
They played a good amount of songs, well over 15, including my personal favorite, "The Anomaly." Overall, it was great to experience the high energy of the band and crowd combined and made for quite the show.
