My family lives in the rural south and I grew up in the rural south. So basically I grew up listening to the The Statler Brothers. I love their mix of good old honest country music mixed with the gospel and the word of the lord.
When I finally got into my teenage years they inspired me to play guitar for my local church. Once I was a young adult, I needed to see them live to validate all my years of listening to them, because I respected and looked up to them so much it was the least I could do. I
find it amazing that they were the back up vocals for the legendary Johnny Cash at one point. I finally saw them live in 2002 and words cannot express how happy I was to see them. Lew, Don, and Harol were all there playing away on their respective instruments. They all dressed like they did years ago and stayed true to themselves thankfully.
The video screen playing behind them was cool and I saw lots of old pictures of them, and they sounded like they did 20 years ago. Definitely a show I will always cherish in the depths of my heart.
