Johnny Clarke

Johnny Clarke is a pillar in the reggae scene coming up on 50 years now. He got his start in the early 70s and has been putting out quality music ever since. He is still performing now. He has always played a mix of original music and cover songs.

If you consider yourself a fan of reggae at all, you owe it to yourself to become familiar with Johnny Clarke's work. In fact, I'd say if you're not familiar with it, you may not be such a reggae fan after all! Just kidding, but he really is one of the true legends of the genre and is one of the real legitimate rockers, hailing from Jamaica and getting his biggest break when he won Jamaica's artist of the year in 1975. He steadily put out new music for the next ten years, having since moved more into production and performing live.

If you get a chance to see him play live, please take advantage of it! He is very fun and very interactive. His shows have a real positive feel and he loves telling stories and keeping the audience interested. He's easily in my top 5 of reggae artists of all time, and he is still performing. So go see him!
