In Japan, Namie Amuro is incredibly popular both as a R&B singer, and as a fashion icon, so when I heard about her from enthusiastic friends, I knew I had to check out her music and see what the fuss was about. Her songs are incredible catchy, and it’s evident from her sound that she’s been performing since such a young age, and for her, being in a competition worked wonders for her career. She opened the show by being carried on stage by a huge group of her dancers, and breaking into a huge dance break, before launching into her first song, I Have Never Seen. The performance was incredible, and the way that she was able to sing along wonderfully hitting every not spot on whilst dancing full out with the incredible dancers really blew my mind.
She played a great selection of tracks, from her early poppy work, through to her most recent album, Feel. There were some sections where she encouraged everyone to sing along, and symbolised this by holding her microphone out to the crowd. Although her songs aren’t in English, they’re so catchy that everyone was singing along anyway, which must be a good sign!
