Biography
The Preatures formed in 2010 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The line up is composed of Gideon Bensen (guitar/vocals), Thomas Champion (bass), Luke Davison (drums), Isabella Manfredi (keyboards/vocals), and Jack Moffitt (guitars).
Before the formation of the Preatures, Champion and Moffitt were high school friends who shared a mutual love for music. After their graduation they enrolled in the Australian Institute of Music where they met Manfredi. The 3 went on to form a cover band, which primarily focused on 60s brit rock. Though the group self-admittedly had a rocky start they polished their rough edges through their continuos participation in live performance. Once Bensen and Davison were added to the lineup they adopted the name the Preachers, but in hopes of avoiding any legal allegations from artists who had the same or similar names they switched the spelling to the Preatures.
They signed to Mercury Records in 2012 and released their single “Take a Card” as well as their EP “Shaking Hands” that year. Though these releases earned the group an immense amount of respect, it was not until they put out the single “Is This How You Feel” that they exploded. This song shot to no. 9 on triple j’s Hottest 100 poll and won them the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition. It was later featured on their gold certified EP, which was likewise entitled “Is This How You Feel?” and was remixed by the Los Angeles based electronic duo, Classixx. The success of this track saw the Preatures broadcasted to millions on programs like “The Jimmy Kimmel Live Show” and plopped onto stages at major festivals such as Coachella, SXSW, and Glastonbury.
The Preatures made a return to the studio and laid down their debut album “Blue Planet Eyes” under the guidance of Jim Eno (sound engineer/ drummer of indie rock band Spoon). This album featured the two singles “Two Tone Melody” and “Somebody’s Talking”.

The Preatures: Metro Theatre, Sydney, Saturday 19 July 2014 Review by Toby Forage Ever since hearing "Is This How You Feel" on the radio in 2013, I'd been dying for The Preatures to come home again and play a show. It seems the rest of Sydney felt the same, a sold out Metro Theatre evidence of that if it were needed. So did it live up to my expectations? After many rounds of dancing around the living room and other spaces to the tunes on the EP of the same name, I can safely say it did, and Isabella Manfredi's performance was also everything I'd hoped for. From the get-go she was sassy, sexy, the very essence of the modern female rock star. At times I had flashbacks to Chrissy Amphlett's pomp. This was a great show. All the hits got a run, from the aforementioned "Is This How You Feel," to the infectiously brilliant "Better Than It Ever Could Be." Gideon Benson sang his lungs out on Dark Times, the band’s soul-inspired cracker, and just when you thought it couldn’t get better than it could be, the five-piece ripped a cover of The Angels classic "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again," sending the Metro crowd into a fabulous frenzy. Some new tracks were given an airing as Manfredi revealed the band had “almost” finished its debut album, due out later this year, and it’s sounding like one to listen out for. While the sound was far from perfect at the front of the crowd, there were some audible highlights. Benson and Jack Moffitt’s guitars sounded magnificent, even if they were a little high in the mix, and Manfredi’s vocals, when they did cut through the noise of the guitars, were excellent, along with the intensity of her overall performance. It’s easy to see why The Preatures continue to garner fans at home and abroad, and let’s hope they’re back again for more shows off the back of the release of what will hopefully be a smashing debut album.
It was off it's tits! Beers were cold, the music was pumpin, everyone had a ball and the izz and guys played beautifully! The sound guy should of turned it urrp so I could feel my ears bleed. But overall had a dandy time! Always do :-)
