The Flavr Blue is an incredibly talented band that everybody needs to hear about. I've seen them four times in the past 6 months. I've bought their merch. I recommend them to everyone I know. I very briefly met Hollis (the lead singer), and I was giddy like a little schoolgirl. Being a 23 year old male, that's out of the ordinary for me.
If I had to put a label on them, I would say The Flavr Blue is a synth-pop trio with some R&B and dance influences. But hearing them is the only way to really understand. "No Remedy" always leaves me with chills, and "F x F" gets me hyped. Hollis has a voice that melts hearts (listen to "Come Down", you'll see what I mean). Lace and Parker back up her vocals, occasionally taking center stage, but always killing it. When the three of them harmonize, I think time actually slows down. I recently saw them at Neumo's on 11/29/14, and they also featured their violinist Maggie, who is also extremely talented.
The Flavr Blue is an energetic show that always leaves me ecstatic. They dance around on stage, engage the audience, and play covers just for kicks; it's so clear that they love what they do! And their excitement feeds right back into us. Also, they often hang around after the show and kick it with their fans. That means so much to me - they are not only talented musicians, but also cool, down-to-earth people. If you have the chance to see them, don't miss it!
Had a blast at The Flavr Blue show in SF at DNA Lounge. Hollis, Parker and Isaac bring a TON of energy, funky beats and dance moves to stage. They definitely got the crowd clapping, jumping and just generally hyped. Great original stuff as well as some Tinashe and Justin Timberlake cover remixes for fun. Loved their last couple of songs, "Feathers" and "F x F". Strong beat, vocals and a mix of musicality that's tough to match.
