Drove acrooss from Cardiff to see WOLF PEOPLE Sunday 27/11/16 . The guys were approachable & friendly discussing music and related chat . The band came on approx 9 pm following the support who was very good . Wolf People set was an energetic affair featuring tracks off their albums spanning the last 5 years , culminating with tracks off their recent album ' RUINS " . Not a large venue but the fifty fans who turned up to see the band like me were ,nt disappointed . 10 / 10 .
Wolf People have a spirit of '71 about them; a fantastic blend of heavy rock, mixed with a lilting English folk, and some world-class playing.
The twin-guitar assault is on the right side of proggy, intricate and forceful without straying into chin-stroking self-indulgence. The bottom line is Wolf People have a ton of great songs; two albums down the line (and a bunch of old singles), there's no mid-set lull.
From the first to the last, it's a hook-laden bevvy of Classic Rock in the best sense. No, it's not contemporary, but nor does it need to be when the songs and the playing spirt you off the way this band does.
What a fantastic show this was. The band were incredibly tight, blasting out their mutant fuzz mix of windy medieval hooks and crushing power chords.
They were absolutely on fire, playing a lot of new tracks such as the brilliant Night Witch which started at an absolutely frantic speed.
Great to meet the guys too. Essential viewing, go see them!
The band is great, their music is something really different and difficult to find bands with their psycho-folk style today. In my opinion they need a singer with more presence in the stage, with a bolder voice. Their music is asking for a new Robert Plant to lead the band!
