Singer songwriters have an incredibly large challenge on their hands with regards to making their success, simply because there are so many talented musicians around at the moment. Luke James however has an original twist on his music, creating hip hop soul music and neo soul on his guitar and piano which is incredibly engaging for an audience. I’ve been following James’ career for some years now, and so I had reasonably high expectations for his live show, and luckily I wasn’t disappointed. He opened the show by introducing himself and his band, and stood at the microphone and launched straight into I Want You, his critically acclaimed track.
James played a great combination of tracks on guitar and piano, as well as just focusing on his vocals. As well as being a wonderfully talented musician, he was great at engaging with the audience, and his performance standard showed that he absolutely loves being up on the stage. As well as playing from his new self titled album, he played a couple of covers, and even let the audience shout out requests which was a lot of fun and let the audience know that the band were really there to please the crowd.
