"A breath of fresh air." Klaus Voorman
"One to watch." Music Week
"We expect major acclaim for Sallon in 2013." Hitsheet
Following up on the success of Kathy's Song EP (Indigo-Octagon Records), this year sees the release of One For The Road, rising British acoustic talent Sam Sallon's long-awaited album. A labour of love, it took the London-based artist and his producer David Watson four years in all, working strange hours on downtime out of several studios, to create this exquisite record of twelve immaculate songs and a beautiful orchestral afterword.
There is something keeningly fresh and original about Sam Sallon's songwriting, never one to shy away from a desire to write songs that are memorable, classic even, he retains originality and poise in his work. Covering topics such as war, relationships, love, the grinding toil of work, as well as the everyday nuances of life.
Sam's soaring voice is reminiscent of Mark Hollis, Devandra Banhart, Nick Drake, Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot and Michael Head - haunting and passionate, a perfect foil to his intricate and driven songwriting.
Outside the studio, Sam has spent the last few years perfecting his delivery and finding fans on tour with Pete Doherty, Mark Fry, Lyle Lovett, Dot Allison, Lucy Rose, Johnny Flynn, Son of Dave, Fionn Reagan, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Johnny Bramwell, Nouvelle Vague and the Neil Cowley Trio. He has been extremely well received at a number of UK festivals including Cheltenham Folk festival, Secret Garden Party, Big Chill, festival, Glastonbury and Wilderness.
One For The Road is out in May.
