Celly Cel blazed on the scene in the late 90s. He is the first rapper signed by E-40. His underground success helped E-40's label Sick Wid It Records ink a major deal with Jive. His album "Killa Kali" reached #4 on Billboard Top 100 Hip Hop/R&B charts, "The G Filez" reached #17. He has sold over 1 million records worldwide.
He released a group album "Criminalz" with the legendary platinum rapper Spice 1.
Celly Cel was nominated for best rapper at the BAM Awards in the same category as 2Pac and E-40.
His music appears in the movies "Dangerous Ground" starring Ice Cube, "L.A. Without A Map" starring Johnny Depp, and in the video game NBA 2K7. He appeared on an AIDS awareness compilation with Wu Tang Clan, Common, Coolio, Fat Joe, Goodie Mob & more. He performed in a Super Bowl Special on MTV with Busta Rhymes, Method Man and NFL players to promote the "NFL Jams" compilation which he also appeared on.
