The StarkLinnemann Quartet is always looking for unusual combinations of musical styles, away from the obvious. For Pictures at an Exhibition, this principle has been implemented very deeply. Extreme contrasts between classical, jazz, world and rock music create a special musical experience. But also in terms of timbre, the band digs deeper than ever before. Saxophonist Iman Spaargaren plays clarinet and bass clarinet in addition to tenor saxophone. Maciej Domaradzki contributes greatly by adding sound effects as well as loops to his double bass playing. Moreover, drummer and co-leader Jonas Linnemann adds congas to his regular drum set. Pianist and composer Paul Stark has adapted Pictures at an Exhibition in such a way that wonderful combinations of sounds can be heard.
