NURI CANCELS – ANDERS VESTERGAARD AND LENNYKALIMBA STEPS IN
Nuri has unfortunately had to cancel his concert with us on September 5th at Basement. We are working on finding a new date together in the future.
In the meantime, we are excited to present two replacement acts who, together with Banga Spirits, will ensure a transcendent evening filled with hypnotic journeys to the furthest corners of rhythm.
Drummer and composer ANDERS VESTERGAARD (Yes Deer, Girls in Airports, Laser Nun, and more) is a prominent figure in the Danish underground music scene. Known for his versatility, he has released three solo albums of ceremonial and rhythmically intense drum music: eel (2016), Prime Float // Unitary Perfect (2019), and his most recent, Propeller, released this year on the Italian label Superpang. His live performances are distinguished by an intense physical presence and a relentless pursuit of transcending space and body.
LENNY KALIMBA is a masked instrument builder from Aarhus who, drawing from Balinese gamelan and Moroccan gnawa, creates repetitive, hypnotic soundscapes using his collection of homemade kalimbas, bamboo flutes, keyboards, and samples from around the world. The result is uniquely quirky, pulsating, and captivating—a blend of acoustic and electronic music that sounds like a fusion of traditional music styles from across the globe.
