NC family garage power pop band Secret Monkey Weekend and TX family psych-garage band Prof. Fuzz 63 team up for 8 dates in mid August. This is the 6th stop of the tour, at Finnegan's Pub in Hoboken. NJ faves Psych-O-Positive bring their excitement as well to this bill.
Secret Monkey Weekend is a power pop trio from Durham, produced by REM-Smithereens producer Don Dixon. They were profiled by PBS awhile back in a fifteen minute piece. It won an Emmy! The band goes back to when Lila was 8 and Ella was 13. For the last 9 years, they have cut their teeth in music venues up and down the East Coast. They make their first trip to Mississippi and New York this August on a far reaching tour.

Someone once said, “If Tom Waits started a surf rock band in the back of a Dallas, Texas pawnshop, it’d be The Prof.Fuzz 63.”
That might be the nicest thing anyone’s said about the weirdo lo-fi fuzzed-up post-punk trash-surf garage-psych rock trio from the north Dallas suburbs, but it’s not wrong. Imagine the bastard love-children of Lou Reed and The Cramps forced to listen to Tom Waits fronting Flipper while babysat by Mark E. Smith and you get some sense of what The Prof.Fuzz 63 is all about. Fuzzy guitar. Grinding organ. Pounding drums. Oh yeah!
