Kenosha Kid Brings 20 Years of Original Jazz to Columbus, Ga
Free performance and masterclass at The Studio Theater, RiverCenter Sept 17
The genre-defying jazz ensemble Kenosha Kid comes to the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts on Wed Sept 17 for a special one-night performance and afternoon masterclass. This event is free and open to the public.
Known for pushing jazz beyond its borders, Kenosha Kid blends improvisation, composition, and adventurous grooves into a sound that's as cinematic as it is spontaneous. The band, led by Athens-based guitarist and composer Dan Nettles, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a tour featuring an all-star lineup: Greg Sinibaldi (saxophones), Jacob Wick (trumpet), Robby Handley (bass) and Marlon Patton (drums).
The day includes two chances to engage:
4:30–6:00pm – Masterclass
Open to all students and community members, this interactive session explores two pathways into creative music: one focused on improvisation (ideal for horn and rhythm players), the other on composition (aimed at writers and theory nerds). All are welcome.
7:30 Performance
Catch Kenosha Kid live in The Studio Theater at the RiverCenter. Expect big energy, strange beauty, and deep listening from a band that thrives on connection and surprise.
