The 5th Edition of Sonic Hypnosis dives deeper into the strange and dark waters from the corners of France, New Zealand, and Germany. Heimat return with their underground oriental and trap beats with the signature deviant vocals of several languages. The duo’s newest release foregrounds rhythmic complexity, with elements reminiscent of the experimental side of baile funk and African drill, albeit accompanying European melodies and musique concrète. The Pleasure Majenta finally make it to Munich and bring their distinct sound at the intersection of post-punk, industrial, and dark jazz influences. The live shows are the thing of legends, and surround you with beautiful chaotic soundscapes. Local heroes Schnecken Im Hochbeet play their bark wave post punk, popping with a dramatically grotesque tendency toward fever dreams. Coco Hope rounds out the evening with a stay in acid house, fusing old school with futuristic vibes. Culture is not an assest, it is to be shared.
