Maggio began her career in 2006 after the release of her debut single 'Dumpa mig', translated into English meaning Dump Me. ZTV were big supporters from the beginning, airing the accompanying video to 'Dumpa mig' in the early days, it went on to chart at #14 on the Swedish singles chart. She found greater chart success with the following single 'Nöjd?/Satisfied?' which peaked at #6. After this initial success Veronica was signed to Universal Music and went on tour to promote her early music.
After a positive start within the music industry, she released her debut album 'Vatten och bröd' which charted at #14 on the album charts, coincidently the same position her debut single achieved. Since then she has released three albums and has seen her popularity grow hugely within Scandinavia. 'Satan i gatan' was released in 2011 and charted atop the Swedish charts as well as peaking at #2 in neighbouring Norway. It is a particularly impressive album as all three singles lifted from it went top five in Sweden, yet the other remaining eight tracks also charted within the top 30 despite not receiving official releases.
Her 2013 album 'Handen i fickan fast jag bryr mig' mirrored the success of its predecessor. It charted at #1 in Sweden, included a top ten official single and the other ten tracks all appeared within the top 40 of the chart. In 2012, Maggio scooped three awards at the Grammisgalan Maggio for Pop of the Year, Lyricist of the Year and Composer of the Year.
Swedish/Italian pop singer Veronica Maggio manages to achieve a relatively difficult feat as despite singing and recording in her native Swedish, she has a universal reach across Europe due to her soulful tones and endearing live show. The singer/songwriter has elevated fast through the stages since she appeared on the circuit in 2006 yet it feels as though this was always her goal as she completely commands the space around her and handles the crowd with ease.
She has a loyal backing band which also helps the operation as they know her discography almost as well as the leading lady. The energy stays high all evening long and the fact she is able to hold the crowd's attention means she can perform over fifteen tracks with ease as they continually sing, dance and cheer in all the right places. After she introduces her band one by one and says her final thank yous, it is time for a finale of 'Sergels torg' as the swan song this evening.
