Their sound embraces influences from bossa nova, jazz, latin, soul, and pop while celebrating the richness of Romani culture. Songs of Roma shares the beauty of Roma heritage through live performances, workshops, and community engagement.
Oto Bunda [SK] is a Slovak-born singer, musician, dancer & educator rooted in a renowned traditional Roma musical family. His grandfather, Eugen Bunda, led the Slovak folk ensemble Železiar for decades. Oto studied acting in Košice & was a member of the Romathan theatre ensemble, where he developed his performance skills. He co-founded the children’s choir Čhavorenge, touring internationally & working with choirs and orchestras around the world. Oto teaches singing & rhythm, composes original music blending jazz, film music, world-music, and traditional Roma influences, and creates the Songs of Roma project to share unique Roma music & culture globally
Astrid [CZ] is a Czech singer, pianist, composer & multidisciplinary artist with roots in Czech, Roma & Sinti heritage. Astrid composes ambient music & brings her creative voice to Songs of Roma after meeting Oto in Prague in 2018. In addition to her musical work, she is also a graphic designer, photographer & copywriter, contributing her artistic vision to both the sound and visual identity of the project.
Songs of Roma had the honour of performing at the legendary Glastonbury Festival in 2025 on
the Atchin-Tan & Unfairground stage.
