The Temper Trap was formed in 2005 when Mandagi, who was already teaching Aherne to play guitar, met Dundas and the three of them formed a band with Mandagi on vocals and lead guitar, Dundas on drums and Aherne on bass. They had auditioned a number of guitarists and eventually settled on Dundas’ former college roommate, Lorenzo Sillitto. In 2006 the group signed with Liberation Music and released their first EP entitled “The Temper Trap,” which was well received; additionally their live performances garnered a lot of praise.
While recording their second album “Conditions” the band traveled to the UK and gained more attention, leading to their signing with Infectious Records for European release. Additionally they traveled to the United States where they played a few gigs and were signed by Glassnote Records for US release. “Conditions” was released in 2009 led off by the single “Sweet Disposition” which reached three times platinum in their home of Australia, platinum in the UK and gold in the US. Throughout 2010 The Temper Trap set out on tour across Europe, including appearances at various summer music festivals such as Reading & Leeds, Glastonbury, V Festival and Roskilde Festival. Towards the end of the year they toured the United States and won the Best Group award at the 2010 ARIA Music Awards.
Throughout early 2012 the band extensively toured the United States, the UK and Australia and made numerous appearances at festivals worldwide. In addition they also released their sophomore album, “The Temper Trap” led off by the single “Need Your Love.” In October 2013 it was announced that Sillitto parted ways with the band and was replaced by Joseph Greer.

Over the course of two decades, Muse’s live show has evolved into one of the most sensational spectacles in the world - an experience worthy of four (!) live DVDs churned out since the release of Hullabaloo in 2001.
From humble beginnings touring the UK dive bar circuit, the band’s intellectual prog-rock quickly earned them the heavy burden of ‘the next Radiohead’: a stigma brushed aside, and a prophecy fulfilled.
The band’s trajectory to international stardom was driven in the early noughties by huge success around ‘Origin Of Symmetry’ and ‘Absolution’; a pair of records that delivered sold out arena shows across the globe.
From that point on, Muse poured everything into their live show. From huge satellite dishes beaming light into the sky to monumental, rotating pillars, each tour delivers something totally unexpected, and utterly jawdropping. And that’s prior to any mention of the crazy, crazy talent exhibited on stage. Matt Bellamy, one of the few true rockstars of the modern age, thrashes and strokes at his guitar in equal measure, and delivers stunning falsetto vocals. Though the band have recruited extra, ‘behind-the-scenes’ members over recent years, the amount of noise produced by the three piece remains astounding.
With Glastonbury and Coachella headline slots - and just about everything other accolade - under their belts, where now for Muse? Somehow, the only way, still, is up. And it’s guaranteed to be totally bombastic.
The Temper Trap was really good live when I saw them in Sydney last year. Their performance was an ideal concert experience.
They sang many of their well-known songs, including Sweet Disposition, which is my personal favorite. The band actually ended with this number as a second encore and I think that the song ended the concert off perfectly. It was a song everyone knew, both fans and audience members who were just there for a good show.
Their energy coming on stage was unlike any other. This performance reminded me of one from the 70s or 80s and had a very Woodstock, hipsterish feel, from the music to the way the band was dressed. There are many instruments involved in their concerts, which give plenty of energy – although the stage was a little small for a performance stage, so with that many instruments they were very close together and squashed throughout the entire show.
The long intro on Sweet Disposition was a great way to just take everything in and remember everything I had just seen during the performance. My favorite part of the entire concert is that second verse of Sweet Disposition because the band got really energetic and seemed most passionate at that moment. However, the entire show was amazing.
The concert was standing room only and stage was raised so I could see everything really well. There was a good number of people there, but it wasn’t too crowded, it just added to the great energy.
Portugal is an experience of epic proportion. I have seen them a few times and every experience leaves you wanting more!
This is a journey into the mind of genius, coupled with a crowd connection leaving the lucky observer quite satisfied for the moment... and then you want more! I love the energy displayed onstage by the band, you really connect during their shows!
Fabulous imagery portrays the spirit of Portugal, it blends with gripping vocals and amazing tunes! These are guys who have done the residencies, put in the time working their magic and deserve amazing success! You've got to catch them live, it's a journey you need to take and be forever a fan!
