Gráinne Brady is a fiddle player and songwriter from Co. Cavan, known for her work across traditional and contemporary folk music. While widely recognised for her fiddle playing in the Irish traditional scene, her songwriting has become an increasingly central part of her work in recent years.
For this performance at the Sunflower, she is joined by Glasgow-based pianist Michael Biggins (BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2021), whose playing brings both lift and warmth to the music, and a strong sense of musical conversation to the set.
The programme will include fiddle tunes from Gráinne’s recent album Back and Forth, alongside songs from her upcoming release The Highest Blossom. Moving between instrumental tradition and original song, the music draws on folk influences while exploring themes of place, movement and personal experience.
Combining lively tune sets with more reflective songs, the performance offers a varied and engaging evening, rooted in tradition but open in sound and style.
