I love the Distant World series as the music of Final Fantasy is what inspired my love for listening to and writing orchestral music.
I've seen the show numerous times and they do tend to vary in terms of quality of the performance. This time was a mixed bag, as for the most part it sounded great. However, there were a few issues such as the pianist being off tempo during Opening Bombing Mission, one member of the percussion being slightly too fast on Cosmo Canyon, and the performer Rikki being a tad on the pitchy side (her voice sounded kind of tired).
Some of these aspects do put a dampener on the show, however Arnie Roth did mention that they had limited rehearsal time which unfortunately did show. I'll still go back and watch these shows (if however the price is getting a little bit much) as I find the Royal Albert Hall is a fantastic venue. I love Nobuo Uematsu's work so much that I'll always want to see it live.
One side note: charging people £120 for a meet and greet is outrageous. As much as I think Arnie Roth and Susan Calloway are great I would not be able to part with such a large sum of cash.
I'd say 6.5/10 HP.
