I was lucky enough to get to see Maria Taylor perform "Song Beneath The Song" live at Bett in Frankfurt in 2014. It was a small intimate venue with a very personal touch. It was perfect for her melancholic voice and lyrics as she was able to speak directly to the audience and express her emotions openly without having to project to a huge crowd.
Her voice was fantastic as always, the music steady and being driven by the emotional words and lyrics that Maria had written. It was a very nice place with a great audience and great music. As the audience began to adapt to her singing and playing style they politely clapped along and enjoyed the beauty in her voice and her music. We all found ourselves transfixed by her beautiful melodies and sustained vocal notes.
It was easy to fall in love, with her or anyone else that night, even as she repeated "it's not love" over and over. It was a great crowd and great atmosphere to be a part of and suited her style and music very well. I think Maria Taylor put on a fantastic performance and would love to see her live again some day.
