Joelma Marques has released two albums Passos (2016) and Tertúlia do Catolé (2018). The songs on these albums are intertwined in her philosophy textbooks. Born in Mombaça in Ceará, she attended Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Philosophy in Brazil and did her PhD in Germany. She united in her artistic projects: philosophy, music, and literature.
The first CD Passos (Steps) addresses themes dealt with in her short story "The Debutante Princess: Virtue, Love and Happiness" published in 2017 by Apolodoro Virtual Editions. Distinct situations and characters are emphasized in her CD Passos through different rhythms: samba, blues, ballad and bossa.
The second CD "Tertúlia do Catolé" portrays the drought in the sertão, the desire for a better world, justice, freedom and describes the beauty of simple life in the sertão. These songs are connected in his short story "Ara: Philosophical Discussions in the Sertão" published in 2018 by Appris publishing house. Tertúlia do Catolé includes very regional rhythms, such as xote, baião, and maracatu cearense.
The language of the songs in these two albums is clear and direct. Her voice travels through different rhythms without losing its identity, i.e., it remains pure and without vibrato. Currently, she performs as singer-songwriter in cultural events, alternative cafés, jazz clubs and festivals in Germany.
