90s Dutch rock band, Racoon seem to be a highly underrated band. While their shows still draw a big crowd in their hometown, the name does not quite have the resonance around the world; an unfortunate fact, especially because their live shows are wonderfully fun. As they take the stage, pick up their instruments and take their place, they are given an extremely warm and respectful welcome. The stage set up is fairly simple, but beside the band’s instruments, they also have a string section, as well as a horns section to accompany their songs. The added live instrumentation adds to the show an extra oomph (or a classiness if you will), and allows for a better appreciation of their music. They are pretty adamant about getting the crowd to really get into the music and participate in, which they happily do. They have a laidback, yet exuberant energy throughout their typical hour long set. They don’t speak much, but do make sure to appreciate their fans with the occasional “thank you,” or introduction to the next song. Their music is appealing to so many difference people, which is probably why they still draw such a large crowd to their shows.
