Find out more about Rock.
Made up of twins Cyle and Cain Barnes, guitarist Samuel Williams, bassist Damien Bone, and Admiral Collier on the keys, Jackson, Mississippi indie rockers The Weeks offer a unique combination of southern vibes and indie rock that gives them the versatility to embody almost two separate bands; introspective acoustic, and electric rock.
With their token long hair, skinny jeans, tight shirts, and trucker hats, The Weeks fit almost every indie rocker cliché imaginable. Luckily, they’ve also got the talent to back it up.
Lead singer Cyle Barnes evokes a younger Kings of Leon vocal style– not surprising considering they were signed to the band’s Serpents and Snakes label in 2012– although their sound is decidedly less heavy. A penchant for occasional acoustics highlights some of their softer moments when performing live, although you’re quickly thrown back into the jump with reverberating and intricate riffs from impressive guitarist Samuel Williams. The crowd’s anticipation of ‘Buttons’, one of The Weeks’ most well-known tracks, is always worth the wait, with the crowd stomping along to the beat before the drop. The band members hang their heads low, hair draping, as they get lost in the music but not from each other.
Intimate venues showcase their talent best, but expect to see them touring at festivals as big as Bonnaroo.
