The music of Will Todd

In the month of August, the Soochow University Alumni Chorus will hold the overseas premiere of their commissioned work, Advent Oratorio: The Promise, at the Kyoto Prefectural Citizens' Hall ALTI in Japan.

This concert will not only reunite the original cast to recreate their spectacular world premiere from the National Concert Hall, but it will also feature several choral pieces highlighting the "Sounds of Taiwan," bringing a wonderful showcase of choral diplomacy to Japanese audiences.

With the joint assistance and coordination of PanaMusica (全方位音樂), Japan Choral Partners Co., Ltd., and the Kyoto Choral Federation, the Soochow University Alumni Chorus will take the stage on August 4, 2026.

Will Todd is to perform alongside the new Artistic Director and Conductor, Dr. Chia-Fen Weng (翁佳芬).

The performance features an incredible lineup including solo soprano Tzu-Yin Lin (林慈音), saxophonist Yi-Ming Lin (林奕銘), bassist Tzong-Han Hsieh (謝宗翰), and percussionist Pei-Yi Wu (吳沛奕) forming the jazz ensemble. They will collaborate with the excellent local Japanese choral group, Ensemble ESCA (アンサンブルESCA), to perform this spectacular work.
