What to Expect

The Low Key Trio was founded in New York City in 2010. One of several groups founded by bassist/composer Rob Duguay, this trio was meant to play in 'party atmospheres' such as bars and restaurants. The original trio included percussion and trombone. Later the trio was invited to host a jam session in Midtown Manhattan at which point Jordan Piper (piano) and drummer Nadav Snir-Zelniker joined the band.

Together, the trio hosted a weekly performance featuring a special guest artist and the event was followed by a jam session. Over the course of ten years, the trio performed with such greats as Lee Konitz, Steve Wilson, Lew Tabackin, Lauren Sevian, John Ellis, "Ku-umba" Frank Lacy, Abraham Burton and literally 100's of others. At a concert of the Low Key Trio, the audience should be prepared to hear NYC swing, blues, samba, grooves, and R&B.

At L'Entracte, the trio will prepare a show of a few originals by both Duguay and Piper, as well as new outlooks on compositions by their shared heroes such as Mulgrew Miller, Cedar Walton, Bill Evans, and many more.
