Formed in 1998 by singer/songwriter Andrew Grimm, June Star has been a long-time hometown favorite. We are thrilled to have June Star back at the Arts Center to open a season of Hometown Headliners, with opener Mike Holden. With several iterations over their 21 records, US Tours, and countless performances, the current line up of June Star is Andrew Grimm, Dave Hadley, Chris Iseli, and Timothy Bracken.
Join us for an unforgettable evening of music that blends lyrical depth with Americana/alt-country twist on guitar and pedal steel.
"With a bulls-eye Americana style, thoughtful lyrics, brilliant guitar, and the most gentle heartfelt harmonies you’ve ever heard, you’re sure to put June Star on repeat." Melissa Clarke - Americana Highways
Full rock band sound with Andrew Grimm on lead guitar/vocals (exquisite riffs and his unique vocal styling) and Dave Hadley (incredibly nuanced) on pedal steel. Plus EJ Thompson on percussion (lots of cool sounds here), Katie Field (sweet harmonies) on vocal harmony/guitar, Ryan on bass guitar and Brian on keyboards/back vocals/accordion (also nuanced supporting sounds, I especially appreciated the Hammond organ sneaking in around the edges). So with a six piece band you get a full sound. But each song was instrumentally blended according the needs of the lyrics. Three part vocals on some songs hinted of the Eagles. I even felt Tom Petty in one song. My personal favorite was "Pope of Mexico."
