Derrick May

Derrick May who hails from Belleville, Michigan in the USA is an electronic musician. He has gone by various pseudonyms such as “Mayday” and “Rhythim is Rhythim”, earning himself an international following. He appears to have a lot of tricks up his sleeve this evening for this performance, I mean, he is definitely responsible for the variation of house music that would later be dubbed “Techno”. He performs some of his biggest material tonight such as “Nude Photo”, which gets the audience so rowdy in the space of eight minutes or so! There are a couple of musical interludes in his set when I’m feeling quite nostalgic as though I have heard some of this music before and I definitely have, as he performs a couple of beats that featured in the film adaptation of the video game, Tekken. This audience is made up of EDM enthusiasts paying attention to what he is doing and others who are just having a good time, either way, it’s a great vibe in here tonight.
