If you’re going to venture into folk and country sounds with your first forays into making music, it probably helps to have some credibility lent to you just by the geography of where you hail from; that’s certainly been the case with Caitlin Rose, who’s spent most of her life in Nashville, Tennessee - a veritable Mecca for that particular musical scene. she may have named her first EP, Dead Flowers, after a song by The Rolling Stones, but that isn’t to say that Rose is in any way a rock and roller at heart; her delicate, intelligently-constructed live shows are proof that this particular singer-songwriter has only one thing in mind on stage, and that’s properly translating her cleverly-woven brand of folk to the live arena. Her lyrics are witty and her guitar playing sharp - especially within the confines of her tight live band - but ultimately, it’s that superb voice that sets her apart from her contemporaries; Rose might only be twenty-seven, but it already feels like she’s one of her genre’s leading lights.
Great show, awesome venue. I've been wanting to see Caitlin Rose since I found her music a few years ago. It's obvious she loves what she does. She has so much fun on stage. The Isis Restaurant is such an intimate venue. I really enjoyed seeing this show there. I'm looking forward to seeing more shows at this venue as well.
