If you like Tom Petty you'll love his live show. I've seen him twice: once at Century Link Arena in Omaha and once at The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN. He succeeded in both setting (indoors and outside). You forget the ridiculous amounts of hits he has until you see him live. The first time I saw him the whole show was his popular songs with a brief break in the middle where he played 3 of his new songs - they sounded great, but he realizes what the people want. When I saw him at Bonnaroo it was perfect. He played Sunday night (the festival closer) and there was a light rain. This was welcomed as it had been brutally hot all weekend. Free Fallin' at Bonnaroo is one the best sing-alongs I've ever been apart of and will remember that moment for the rest of my life. He has an amazing group of musicians that he plays with and their sound translates to the live sound. They sound incredible. Tom Petty's songs live are played flawlessly and with more power and emotion than the studio versions.
This is one artist you definitely need to see at least once!
The show was fantastic! Joe Walsh opened up and really got the crowd going. He can still rock that guitar! Tom and the band really cranked it up to start the show and had the crowd eating out of his hands. We/they were much appreciative! They played songs spanning their forty years (!!) of playing music and every one of them they played their hearts out on. Happy to see and hear the Webb sisters on back-up vocals. The whole band was awesome! Great show!
Great concert, both with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, as well as the Lumineers. The light show was amazing, the music can't be beat. Tom Petty is a true one of a kind artist and performer. Even with the one sound glitch, he still made us happy to celebrate his musical career with him. A concert I will never forget.
Not sure if Tom Petty was drunk/high or just old but that was one of the lamest I have been to in awhile. And I close for this one. They could barely keep a beat and only three or four tunes really grabbed the audience. Granted I am not a Tom Petty head but did expect better musicianship than what was delivered.
I've seen Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers 6 times Over the last 25 years and he has never disappointed. This particular show, I had 3rd row seats, stage left, and was blown away. Absolutely incredible show. Will never forget how great the whole experience was! Looks like I'm gonna see them time and time again.
I saw Petty on April 07, 1995 at The Spectrum in Philadelphia. It was a good show, and Petty was high. He even admitted so after tripping on stage on his way out to play their opener. Song Kick posts Pete Droge as the opening band, but I remember seeing The Jayhawks open the show. They were great, as well!
My first show was at the Academy Of Music in NYC in 1973. Petty and the Heartbreakers just made the top 10 list. The Who, E Street Band, Santana/Eric Clapton, Bowie, Madonna, Prince, The Band, McCartney and Petty at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley. Bring a blanket and a seat cushion. Outstanding!!!
It was an awesome show and he played almost all of his best hits! I like the new album a lot, so I enjoyed the new songs as well. Closed with American Girl, per usual and had some fireworks rigged for the end! This was the 2nd time I've seen Tom Petty & HB and they still don't disappoint!!!
Joe Walsh opened the show and he was great . Tom Petty is hands down one of the greatest performers around . He is someone who truly loves what he does and loves interaction with the crowd. And appreciates the audience giving him their love to him. I would highly recommend everyone go see him.
The show was life changing! I don't know why it took me so long to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers live. One more thing to check off my bucket list. They played a great set, new and old! The encore was amazing. American Girl was the perfect song to end with.
