Had the pleasure of seeing MorMor last at the Swedish American Hall in Frisco last night. It truly was a pleasure to see him and his band play a tight set on every song they played. His voice is truly smooth as silk. When these guys were playing it was just the music: no light show, dancers, any distractions from the band and their music. Hell they come on the stage in regular street clothes with MorMor in his jeans and what appears to be working man BenDavis jacket.
This was the first time that I have seen him and didn't know what to expect if it would just be him with a bunch of synthesizers or a full band and they all came out to show what badass musicians all four of them are. If you like an artist whose is voice is like one of those super expensive butters(if you know what I mean) don't miss them. Take the time out to check him out on one of the many sites that play music so you can really dig them when you see them live.
About the only item that caught my attention that distracted from the show a little bit was the lack of many African Americans in attendance. Maybe it was the venue, in the Castro district in Frisco but I doubt it. The music that he played is not hard it is smooth and I might even go so far as to say it is for lovers! I hope the Brothers get behind him and support him. This guy has the goods akin to an artist like Childish Gambino and maybe the next time I see him it may be in a festival like setting instead of an intimate venue like the SAH.
Short and sweet. Great performance, but a short and unpersonal show. I’m afraid I would not pay the same kind of money again. The songs sounded great, exactly like on the EP. And for this latter reason it was not worth it for me.
