Three-piece rock band Esben and the Witch (named after a Danish fairytale) came out of Brighton, England by storm. With Rachel Davies fronting the band with vocals and bass, Thomas Fisher on guitar and Daniel Copeman on drums, the band is playing all around the UK and all of Europe.
The post rock/ alt-rock band keeps their shows simple. With the lights dimmed, and smoke floating around the bottom of the stage, the band takes their place with their instruments and start up their first song. There is something particularly cool about a badass rocker chic fronting your band. Especially since she is so soft-spoken whenever she would talk to the crowd (which happened to be between every single song). She would tell stories between, sometimes the inspirations for a song, other times it would just be about an experience having to do with the band as a collective. Considering there are only three of them, they have an extremely full sound that envelops you and brings you into the music even further. One of the best songs that I enjoyed watching from their full set was “No Dog” which was super charged with emotion and gusto. It was a really cool show to experience.
