The 4 girls from the South Korean group 2NE1 formed in 2009, they created its name to combine the phrases '21st Century' and 'New Evolution'. They do still tour all over Japan and have a very up beat music vibe. In their music videos they do throw a bit of English into the mix now and again but apart from that it's pretty impossible to sing along to unless you speak the language. Their choice of outfits are rather outdated and I wouldn't say they are quite up to the standard of 'Girls Aloud' or any girl bands that I know, but they are a cute group of girls and their videos do make you feel rather young and carefree. Their first song called ‘Lollipop’ was released in 2009 to promote LG's Cyon phone originally and they later went on to make a music video for the single. A lot of their music has been used for advertisements since 2009, which seems like a good idea as it does grab your attention. But from an English girls point of view I would never see them live because I'd have no idea what was going on. I haven't heard much about the group and I don't think they will be breaking into worldwide stardom anytime soon. They can't really hold a stage alone either; it would take a lot of backing dancers, lights and gimmicks to capture the audience’s attention. But in Japan I know they are very popular and their vibrant personalities that are displayed in their videos must explain why. I don't imagine we'll be seeing them perform in the UK anytime soon though.
