I met Steve Dagleish on a Greek Island 1993, he'd come to take part in Yoga and movement course at a centre on the island, I was the cook.
Back then he was a banker in the city of London but not very happy in that world. He brought his guitar with him and very much infused the session with music, wit and a sense of playfulness, always inclusive with other attendees on the course. He and I made a lasting connection and meet up from time to time ever since.
On Sat Oct 30th, this same Steve Dagleish, launched his second album 'Yours for Eternity' at the Winemakers Club, Farington St in Central London.
How did he get from hanging out with his guitar on Greek Island,= with friends, he made there, to launching his second album? It's a long story, I recommend checking out his website to get the whole story. http://www.stevedagleish.com/
I'd not seen Steve for quite a while before Sat' gig so was intrigued to see how this event would go.
Well, he was outstanding from start to finish. He's still got the same charm I witnessed in Greece back in 1993 but has up'd his skills, important skills one needs, not only as a musician/performer but in how you get your audience to feel at ease and enjoy each moment of the gig.
Human beings; we're like sponges looking and seeking experience to touch us, lift and inspire our lives. Music is a wonderful conduit for this, put a skilled musician and an eager audience together for a night and the result can be magic. Such was the case last Sat at the Winemakers club.
In a way Steve is a latecomer to the music scene looking to express his songs, his stories and make a living from it at same time but somehow it doesn't feel late at all, he's found his voice, guitar ability and here a set of beautiful tunes. The new songs on his latest release are little gems, put together in a short time but from a feeling nurtured over a life well lived and felt. Do check out this album, treat yourself to a new voice with something worth listening to. Catch him live too if you can.
