If you think about it, the beauty of producing a one-hit wonder is that there’s not really any rhyme or reason to it, no exact science behind quite why that one particular track has struck such a chord with the wider public when the rest of an artist’s output has failed to do quite the same. It might just be that the band have genuinely produced a one-off in terms of quality, or perhaps there’s environmental factors involved; either way, there’s no real reason why a Danish indie pop duo should have been able to make the top three of the UK singles charts, but that’s precisely what Junior Senior managed back in 2003, with their worldwide smash ‘Move Your Feet’. Their live shows were already attracting interest in the alternative music world anyway; tightly-constructed, bursting with energy and full of poppy hooks and melodies, and the success of ‘Move Your Feet’ might well have proven to be the old cliched albatross around the neck, because they never quite managed to escape its shadow. Instead, the pair ultimately split in 2008, after just two studio records; they should prove as a cautionary tale to fledgling acts - be careful what you wish for.
