Composers from the U.K are absolutely lapping up all these composition gigs in Hollywood movies flying over there to work with some of the most well known movie directors to achieve huge movie scores, some being award winning. That is exactly what this composer, Craig Armstrong, a Scottish composer of modern orchestral music electronica and film scores has done, having scored Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge! Which earned him not just an American Film Institute’s composer of the Year award, but also a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and a BAFTA. He also landed himself a Grammy Award for Best Original Score in 2004 for the biopic, Ray. Quite a career hey! Tonight, along with a fifty-strong orchestra, he leads this adoring audience through a journey of music from some of these huge films earning him a standing ovation at the end of the evening. The atmosphere is euphoric and it’s that nostalgic feeling of knowing that you’ve heard all of these works at some point before, perhaps when watching Love Actually, Elizabeth: The Golden Age or maybe even The Incredible Hulk!
