Since the 1960s, Labelle have been bringing excellent R&B and soul music, and nearly fifty years later are as good as ever. As the band enters, the stage is dark, but lit up with bright lights from below which illuminate everyone on it. Labelle band members are all wearing white, which makes them glow in the half light. They stand still, and then, as “You'll Never Walk Alone” begins, they swing into action, lighting up the stage not only with their glowing white clothes, but with their electrifying stage presence. As raw talent and pure, soulful R&B fill the night, the audience catches onto the infectious feeling and they, too, start to move. Labelle is an American female singing group. They were extremely popular in the 1960s-70s, and remain so today. After a few changes in band name and line-up, they really hit it big with their single “Lady Marmalade” off their 1974 album Nightbirds, and were a big hit. Later in the 1970s, the band split up and the members each went on to have successful solo careers. Most known among them is Patti Labelle, who continues to move the room with her impassioned R&B music today.
Despite her age, Patti Labelle still peppers her spirited performances with witty remarks and sweet dance moves while the audience chants her name. Still a diva, she puts on excellent performances which are not to be missed.
