Berlin based garage outfit King Khan & The Shrines is the brain child of musician Arish Ahmad Khan otherwise known as King Khan who is originally from Montreal in Canada. The group has always been known for its multi-instrumental approach to the genres of garage, punk and rock and of course the charismatic characteristics of King Khan who leads a show not quite like anybody else on the circuit.
It is all a little bit mad but the fans of the band are completely and whole heartedly ready to suspend disbelief and become lost in the madness. The vast array of musicians onstage come together as one slick unit to recreate the band's discography whilst the audience sing, cheer and even dance below the varied beats. Khan himself runs the length of the stage in order to make sure everybody is fully involved and enjoying the show as much as the musicians. There is no doubt the crowd have enjoyed it as they roar for the band to return at the closing of the man set before they delight them with an encore of 'Shivers Down My Spine'.
Quite simply one of the best gigs I have been to!
If you ever spot Mr Kahn and his soul ensemble playing in your town/country/continent then just go, even if it's your wedding day or aunt Maude's funeral... You can always bury her tomorrow.
King Khan and his sensational Shrines exude fun times. Last night [02/09/17] a guy in the audience next to me couldn't stop screaming between songs: 'It's good to be alive! ' They are really that good.
