Cashmere Cat’s career began when he represented his country in the DMC World DJ Championships under the name DJ Final in three consecutive years. He came to prominence in the EDM movement when he released remixes of songs by Lana Del Rey and 2 Chainz. His version of “No Lie” by 2 Chainz gained critical acclaim being featured in VIBE music magazine at number 1 in a Genre Bender playlist of 2012.
Following this, Cashmere Cat released his debut EP in October 2012 under the Pelican Fly Label based in Belgium. His music took the form of what punters would describe as futuristic hip-hop, which earned the EDM artist the support from some of the largest names in the field such as Rustie and Gilles Peterson. If that wasn’t enough, his recently released EP title track “Mirror Maru” managed to feature on the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack in 2013. It was later in the year in the summer when Cashmere Cat moved to Manhattan from Norway, to work alongside his contemporaries Benny Blanco, LidoLido and then occasionally with R&B artists, Miguel and Wiz Khalifa. In Feburary 2014, Cashmere Cat released the Wedding Bells EP, through the Glasgow based LuckyMe Label.
Cashmere Cat isn’t just a studio artist, having appeared at many festivals since 2012, including being an opening act on Ariana Grande’s Honeymoon tour, due to him featuring on the song “My Everything” which went on to top the charts.

With his irresistible blond locks falling like curtains round his fresh baby-face and his edgier than thou laid back style, Cashmere Cat cuts a very cool figure indeed. Standing by his trusty decks, he span quite the party as hundreds of sweaty, young students danced along to his epic grooves and soulful spins. I had heard of a young, hot DJ that had recently graced the music scene and was excited at the prospect of seeing him live with my uni friends. I was not disappointed. Cashmere Cat, real name Magnus August Høiberg (a name quite epic in itself) was a hit amongst my peers. Perfectly cool and indie, he fit right in on the student scene. With a unique mix of seductive, smooth R&B, electronic dance and futuristic hip-hop, this Norwegian born turntablist has taken the DJ industry quite by storm! As well as club and festival performances, Cashmere Cat has worked with the likes of Maroon 5, Jeremih, Miguel and Wiz Khalifa. His remixes, which included edits of Lana del Rey and 2 Chainz, were off the charts and received an incredible reaction on the night. Tunes ‘With me’, ‘Do you’ and ‘Wedding Bells’ were all great hits with his edit of Lana del Rey’s ‘National Anthem’ being a personal favourite.
Magnus August Høiberg best known under the stage name Cashmere Cat easily has one of the most surrealistic dance shows on the circuit. EDM and electronica is synonymous with the likes of Sweden and Germany, yet Norwegian Magnus is championing the dance music of his homeland having competed in the DMC World DJ Championships.
His futuristic hip-hop and bass sounds have gained support from fellow contemporaries such as Gilles Peterson not to mention his vastly growing fanbase. One of the appealing factors of a Cashmere Cat's show is the interaction that the main man has with his crowds. It is very often nowadays that DJs and producers stand behind a deck and barely acknowledge the crowds, whereas Høiberg is practically in the front row during his shows. He jumps along with the crowd, his luscious blonde locks flying wildly making sure that everybody is 100% involved with the show. Assured to have something special planned for his imminent debut album, more and more people will begin to look to Norway for great electro/dance.
This show was mediocre at best. My guy and I were super bored and ended up leaving early because it wasn't that great. Cashmere Cat has great music but djing at a club is not his strong suit. The age group that was there was super annoying and the younger kids are super rude. Also, it would be great to actually get set times for shows. We had no idea when the different djs were playing and ended up getting there late for the show we wanted to see because we thought Cashmere Cat was the headliner. If showbox sodo can post set times in the club the night of the show, then they should be capable of releasing that information to the people who bought tickets ahead of time.
The night was amazing and crazy! It was my first time going to his concert and I was wondering how it would go since his songs are mostly really chill, but it was really wild. People were getting on stage, break dancing, and all that. I just wished he would have a longer solo time. The collab was great but his time was too short! But anyways, if any of you have the chance, GO.
What can i say? I'm fairly new to his following. Listen on spotify all the time. Even better in person. Great venue. Great set up. Even better the crowd was awesome. Cant wait for the cat to come back into town. What was even better i had a good time on a Tuesday night
This cat shreds it - transcendental auditory fire! From friendly cat to aloof dog all yo animals are sure to bask in his sonic light like horny lizards in summer heat - do not miss his show - Cashmere Cat shreds the audible spectrum!
HE WILL MAKE YOU DANCE. And you will dance. And you will like it. And you will wonder how you've been listening to him through headphones this whole time. And you will wait anxiously for him to come back to town.
Amazing show- I've been a huge fan of Cashmere Cat for
a long time and it was definitely worth it. The energy / music was perfect and the show helped me discover Nina Las Vegas who I absolutely love now.
Wow. I can't even think straight still, what a show that was. El Rry Theater in Albuquerque is a beautiful venue and it was a great space to see Cashmere Cat. Thanks to everyone involved with #ColorwayLive
