Mott the Hoople

Seeing Mott the Hoople in concert is to experience the rock era of the late sixties/early seventies! Although age and maturity have taken its toll - like for so many of us from that era - they are still a rock and roll joy to see live.I had the good fortune to see them perform in a reunion concert in 2009 and thought their music sounded just as good, if not better, forty years later.
There was a maturity to their voices and musical accompaniment that I enjoyed (maybe because I'm aging right along with them?).Waiting for them to come on stage, audience anticipation growing, was the "tease" to the concert. When they finally did appear, it was to loud and appreciative cheers from the audience. Everybody in the band was grayer and walking a little more stiffly than they did forty years ago, but the music was just as good, if not better, than I remember when I saw them perform live back in '73 or '74.
While the audience was filled mostly with old hippies like myself, I was pleased to see younger people there, as well, and who were obviously enjoying the music of this wonderful group as us much as us old fogies were!

to b short (it's late)... The SOLD OUT Beacon show was a 2+ hrs. (estimate) celebratory event. Starting with a taped intro by Bowie.
Some rough edges? sure. but Mott live was never polished.
Great set list.
Ian Hunter is one of the most prolific songwriters in music history.

Top of me 'ead standouts!
'Alice', Rollaway the stone, R&R Queen, Sucker, Walking w/a Mountain, Rest in peace, H. Boogie...
They don't make artists like Ian, Mott anymore.
And they let it b known their respect for circa 1950's rock & roll that inspired their long road.

Would of love to go , it was sold out, then the tickets were unbelievably expensive I couldn’t afford them. I saw Ian Hunter 2 years ago he is Spectacular. That show was the best show I’ve seen in years

So sorry that this tour has been cancelled. I didn't discover Mott until after they had broken up, so I was looking forward to seeing them live at last. Now it looks like I never will.

Ian Hunter what can you say about this man at 80 he still has it a wonderful happy great evening love it loved to see all the people the guests shame Brian May was not there on Saturday
