Louisahhh's heavy beats and dark music were near trance but running towards "house" as well -- her sampling was great, and the spinning was fun. She definitely knows the crowd, and is able to be dynamic when needed. Her awareness of the audience was impressive. Overall, her skills as were great -
Enjoyable.
You won’t find much on the Internet about DJ Maelstrom (real name Mikael Dahlgaard) as he also goes by two other stage names: DJ Emok and Phoney Orphants. Originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, (a mecca of music and culture), Maelstrom classifies his creations as progressive trance or psychedelic. Maelstrom travels worldwide every year, performing at music festivals in over 20 countries. His success is due in part to the label he co-founded called Iboga Records. The label not only produces music for multiple artists like Ace Ventura, Flowjob, and Liquid Soul, but also manages each artist and assists with bookings and promotion.
Maelstrom’s self-titled album is his newest venture in music via a solo album. Watching DJ Maelstrom perform his most popular set “Discord” is a trippy and heart-pounding experience. A slow beat progressively gets faster whilst trying to keep up with the panicky strobe lights. Watching the artist as he maneuvers the turntable like a well-oiled machine is an entrancing spectacle to witness. He is caught up in his own world, the beats beginning in his head and heart and transferring through his fingers to the board and then to the audience. It seems electronic music is here to stay and DJ Maelstrom is only just beginning to show us what he’s got.
