Old Oaks and Friends are celebrating the release of their new EP, I Wake Up in the Morning, on May 21st at the Memorial Union Terrace. The first single on this EP, Headed West, was released earlier this year. The remaining tracks for this release—9 Years In, The Dog, and I Will See It Through—will be digitally available beginning on 5/21.
Old Oaks and Friends presents a chill-yet-funky take on the singer-songwriter genre. Their award winning acoustic folk rock originals are paired with covers from artists spanning from Neil Young to Vulfpeck. Franko's vocals and 12-string guitar interludes are complemented by harmonious saxophone solos and alto flute riffs by Daniel Haschke. Frank and Daniel also play with Madison’s award-winning funk-fusion band Wurk.
Old Oaks's intimate sonic atmosphere is boosted into a full band jamboree by a range of regional touring pros on bass and drums. For the 2026 season Daniel and Frank will be accompanied by Zac Curtes on bass guitar and Madison multi-instrumentalist and producer, Julian Russell, from Pink Halo and Kainalu fame on drums.
