I just got into Mothers recently and was lucky to see them in SF on 2/24/17. Most of the time when I see a band in a bar, it is extremely frustrating because people will not shut up and listen, even when the band is very good. This may have been the only show I've ever seen in a bar where when the singer came onto the stage and began singing, the room went silent to listen to her mesmerizing voice. I would compare her voice, presence, and talent to Chan Marshall. Mothers musicianship is tight and they have, imo, a unique sound. It was so beautiful when people sang along to a few of their songs, hard not to because they are so melodic, emotional, and dare I say, catchy! I loved this show and I wish this band the best in their journey!
