With pairs of violins, violas, and cellos, Brahms created two of the most exquisite late-Romantic chamber works. The composer’s sextets exemplify the emotional heft, warmth, lyricism, and grand conceptual scope for which he is so beloved, while expanding the tried-and-true sonority of a string quartet into something even more splendid. Tonight, six of the world’s greatest string players join forces to perform both of these sextets together on Carnegie Hall’s grandest stage for the first time in 30 years.

This is my 10th time seeing Soltani and my second with The Roayl Philharmonc at Cadogan Hall.

Soltani is (always) brilliant and not only a class musician but a "performer" and "actor" who is a mortal extention of his sound.

I have frequently said one could watch him with the sound off and he is like a dancer. One could listen with eyes closed and hear each nuance. And both watch and listen and be enthralled.

While the work, the "Elgar Cello Concerto" is a fairly famiiar one, Soltani, along with the Royal Philharmoc made it fresh.

100% recommend both the orchestra and Soltani.
