Vershuset was originally founded as a venue in Næstved in 1973 and at the end of the same year, the music association Vershuset was founded. In the first years, Vershuset had several different locations in Næstved: "Daghøjskolen", Nordre Farimagsvej 16, where Sahva is located until now, and subsequently the Leisure Center on HC Andersensvej. Grønnegade's Barracks In August 1985, Vershuset moved into newly furnished premises at Grønnegades Barracks, Grønnegade 10. (the premises are arranged in the horse stable at the formerly now protected Dragon Barracks). And since then, most of the events have taken place here. About 40 concerts a year Vershuset currently holds approx. 40 concerts annually, based on the association's purpose clause: - To give members the opportunity to listen to rhythmic music with emphasis on the genres: Rock, pop and blues as well as the otherwise popular tones of the time. - Through music choices also, to support new names on the Danish rhythmic music scene. Everyone can become a member and a membership card currently costs DKK 40 per year. The verse house has an average of approx. 4,000 members and is thus one of the country's largest music associations. The concerts are handled by a permanent staff of approx. 60 people, of which a board of 10 people. Everyone works unpaid on a voluntary basis.
