The Periscope is born in 2007 under the initiative of two musical collectives (the Grolektif and Collective Polycarp), along with the Université Populaire of Lyon. In 2010, AGAPES becomes the fourth association to take part in the project, embodied by RESEAU.
The Periscope is an alternative offer to classical venues, flowing between a music laboratory and a sound curisity cabinet. It became a discovery place with an artistic line axis on Jazz and improvised musics amongst others. Also open to rock culture, as well as composed musics or experimentals, and ultimately sensitive to all grooves from the globe.
The Périscope organizes about 150 concerts a year, as well as over twenty artists residencies and many other cultural events such as lectures, poetry cabarets, workshops, a young spectator programmation & several cultural action projects... Our project is builds on a solid volunteer and musicians network who contibuite their time for music and culture. Its funding is a mix of own resources, grants and donations.
