Biografía
Growing up in Bothell, a suburb in Seattle, Washington, DeLong like his father became a drummer, and played in a number of bands throughout his time at high school. He went on to study drums at Azusa Pacific University on a half scholarship and played in the band The Denouement before graduating and settling in Los Angeles, California, U.S.
After honing his skills in indie bands, DeLong started experimenting with electronic sounds more commonly heard in EDM and house music. This allowed the musician to appeal to a wider audience and expand his music to raves and electronic shows. DeLong is noted for his adoption of video-game peripherals with the use of Nitendo Wii remotes and video game joysticks connected to a MIDI interface in order to manipulate and modify his sound.
Influenced by the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse and Boards of Canada, DeLong released his “Global Concepts” EP in 2012. The musician followed the EP up with his debut full-length “Just Movement” (2013) released through Glassnote Records, Rolling Stone’s 2011 Independent Label of the year. His single “Global Concepts” became highly popular online and reached No. 33 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in 2013. The album is defined by its ability to blur genre lines, adopting influences from electronic music, alternative rock, indie-rock and pop.
DeLong released a second EP entitled “Long Way Down” on November 10, 2014 and has supported the release with a string of tour dates across the U.S.

A talented, down to earth musician who mixes electronic music with live percussion and inspiring vocals. I saw Robert as an opening act not having any idea who he was, but by the end of his set he had won my admiration. I watched as he set up his stage rig himself, making sure each drum was perfectly tuned and every piece of equipment was working, in front of a room where most people probably didn't know who he was, apart from hearing that one song that one time that was pretty cool. No stagehands to help him; no assistants going out before him to set up so he can make an exciting entrance; just a man getting ready to show off his passion. He started performing his first song, and eerie looping vocals filled the room with a low synth behind them. My first thought was, "Oh man, this is going to be awesome." And it was. He kept the room intrigued and entertained for his entire set, and even managed to get me dancing, which is truly impressive. He produced such rich sounds electronically, layered with inspiring lyrics that really get you thinking. And if at any point I was starting to get bored, he would whip out an awesome drunk solo on the kit he had set up on stage, or start making sounds with a video gaming joystick or a Wii remote.
Robert Delong put on a moving show that inspired me, got me dancing, and won me over. He is now on my list of favorite musicians and if you see him perform, I'm sure he'll end up on yours too.
A MUST SEE, PHENOMENAL ARTIST! I first saw Robert DeLong at 97x's Big Guava 2015. He played one of the smaller stages during the day but indoors, so it was dark and general admission; I was right upfront...IMO this the ONLY way to see him due to his special type of show involving a lot of movement, color, graphics & lighting. Later that year, at Next Big Thing, he played during daylight hours, which was a disservice to his brand. Larger crowd/stage and assigned seating did not allow for the intimate setting that suits his performance so well, but had it been dark out, the show would have been 1000% better. So...I am extremely excited to see him again in Orlando at this particular smaller venue. I will be up front with my face painted. In conclusion, it's going to be a party.
Very energetic! Honestly one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I was super impressed with Robert DeLong's talent on stage- I assumed that a lot of the electronic elements of the songs would be pre-recorded. BUT he produced them all on-stage with an impressive array of mismatched soundboards and even a Wii remote and game controller. There was a lovely chaotic, almost-psychedelic energy on stage that was so easy to get swept up in. After the show he was very engaged with his fans, going so far as to make conversation between taking photos. Definitely go if you have the chance. Wow.
Robert DeLong is so amazing awesome and unique. Everyone that wanted to got to meet him after the show and he has giving out signatures, taking pictures and talking with fans. He is so nice and genuine. He puts on an amazing show and there is nothing like it out there, he is completely unique. He even uses things such as a Wii remote and x-box control as part of the show. His show is a once in a life time experience and no show is the same. I would definitely see him again in a heartbeat! Only great things can be said about him and I hope he comes back to CO soon!
amazing! I did not know that he was a one man act, that explains why it took 35 min inbetween sets for him to come on stage, but it was totally worth the wait! Great performance! He is fun and it was his birthday, so we sang happy birthday to him! also, he played a 3 song oncore performance which was cool!
Our second time seeing him. Why? Because Robert Delong puts on an awesome
