White Town

Like I’m sure that many people have, I made the mistake in thinking that White Town was a band, but in fact, it is the work of one, very talented man named Jyoti Prakash Mishra. Also, despite being only known for his song “Your Woman,” the man has quite a few other songs that are truly great. In 2012 he played in New York’s Popfest, which really was quite the pleasant surprise. He took the stage solo, with a guitar in hand and thanked the audience for coming. He performed his song “Wanted,” “Invisible Elastic,” and “Once I Flew.” Most of the crowd didn’t know the words to the songs, but very much enjoyed the music nonetheless. He closed out the show with the obvious “Your Woman,” with the instrumental track as well as his guitar playing in the background. The song is much better live, mainly because of the excitement of a live show. His vocals are on point, and exactly as good as you expect them to be. What’s even better is that the crowd was singing along to the entire track, which you could tell made him really proud. A fun show that both he and the crowd thoroughly enjoyed.
