Biografía
The band’s line up consists of Denisse Guerrero (on lead vocals), Edgar Huerta (on keyboards and programming) and Ricardo "Richie" Arreola (on bass and guitar). Notable backing musicians that often play for the band include Israel "Campanita" Ulloa (on drums) and Richo Acosta (on guitar) amongst others.
All three of the band members grew up with a passion for music and, when they met one night at a bar, decided to combine their passions into a band. Their first album was called ‘Cocktail’ and was released in 2003. It proved to be an incredible early success for the band as their first single off the album, ‘Tus Ojos’, charted at number one on the Mexican Top 100 and the album itself peaked at number five on the Albums chart and was certified Gold. It was consequently named as one of the top five albums of 2003 by Mexico’s Rolling Stones magazine. ‘Suele Pasar’ and ‘Aún Asi Te Vas’ were two other hits from the album that are notable for reaching the top 20.
Their second album ‘Dulce Beat’ earned them recognition from a worldwide Latino market and was even more successful than the first, reaching the number one spot on the Album Charts and retaining its place for four weeks.
Whilst the first two albums had a distinctive electro-pop sound, their third moved towards a more pop focus. ‘Fantasia Pop’ was their third and highly successful album and marked the band’s move towards foreign, non-Latin, markets. It led to a headlining tour, which included the USA, where the album had been released the day after its release in Mexico.
With a huge number of awards to their name, including a Latin Grammy, a Latin Billboard Award and countless nominations, the band has proved to be a huge commercial success.
Críticas en vivo
With fourteen years of experience on the live circuit, Mexican pop outfit Belanova commit to a certain level of perfection when it comes to the live performance. They truly believe in the insistence of theatrics during the gig so Denisse Guerrero is often illuminated by singular spotlight as smoke billows around her figure. The crowd instantly cheers her on as she pauses between songs and simply holds herself in the moment with eyes sealed shut.
The Grammy award winning band really do have a lot of skill in the crafting of upbeat and catchy melodies so the majority of the setlist tonight is sang back at anthemic force by the audience. They seem genuinely thrilled by this reaction and thank the gathered revellers continuously for the huge support they have always given the band. With a large following now in the States, the stages and the crowds are getting bigger yet the three musicians know their tested formula works well for them so they keep the operation similar to when they were first starting out. Who knows if they will incorporate more members in the future yet for now three is the magic number when it comes to a Belanova show.
Belanova is the synth pop band who have been doing what they’re doing for the last fourteen years. They are from Guadalajara in Mexico. They have won a total of seven awards over the course of the career and it reflects in their shows, with patrons knowing exactly what they’re in for. They have a very chilled out vibe of pop, with synth-laden hooks driving the sound. The bars are lined with fans, right up until the anticipation starts to kick in about Belanova taking to the stage. The lights black out and the decibels of the roars grow in volume with everyone excited to see Belanova take to the stage. “Por Ti” is the first song to kick off their set, with a memorable synthesizer part sporting a saw wave sound inviting the audience to sing along. “Hasta El Final” closes the set with a bang. The final song is extended for the live purpose of getting everyone involved.
Denisse has an impeccable voice and stage presence. Belanova has been a major force in the latin pop landscape for over 10 years and they keep bringing it to every show. It was an amazing experience! Wish more English speakers were aware of Belanova. Belanova, por favor vuelvan a NYC pronto! <3
It was very nice. 3 opening acts, that were pretty good. The only thing is that Belanova didn't sing very long. Just a little over an hour. But over all it was good and I enjoyed it. Great date night with my hubby.
I love belanova! I grew up listening to them and their songs are amazing, thanks for existing guys and for making all those songs. Niño is my favorite song ever
