The shy ginger Bristolian DJ and producer that is Matthew Walker, more commonly known by his stage name Julio Bashmore, is an exemplary “bedroom producer” success story. A leader on the Bristol house and electronic scene, Julio Bashmore is an unassuming and relaxed figure to represent the movement; his laid back and modest attitude may have been mistaken for arrogance in the past, but with hits like “Au Seve” to boast of, a certain air of arrogance would not be unwarranted. Even if you are not familiar with the rest of his work, you will now the melody of this song! Julio live makes for a great night. Although his stage presence is nothing to write home about, the music he writes speaks for itself. His unique blend of smooth, pulsing house beats and incredibly catchy melodies are presence enough and get the whole crowd moving effortlessly. Other big tracks throughout Basmore’s set are obviously “Battle For Middle You” and “Duccy,” though the latter received very mixed reviews on its initial release, heard live it definitely redeems itself! If you’re looking for a great night of catchy house hooks and a steady beat to groove to, look no further than Julio Bashmore; he has fast become a household name and it doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere.
